SAN FRANCISCO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Amid the coronavirus pandemic, Heroes Jobs is donating the use of its new video hiring app to retailers such as CVS, Pizza Hut and Vons that are urgently recruiting talent in order to keep Americans supplied with food, staples and medicines. Retail companies that are providing critical necessities to consumers through online and brick-and-mortar stores are using the video app to fill hundreds of thousands of jobs as quickly as possible in order to meet surging consumer demand for groceries and basic goods.
The Heroes Jobs app makes recruiting more efficient by eliminating the need for hiring managers to screen hundreds of resumes or conduct phone interviews to assess candidates. Applicants can easily find companies hiring in their area and watch short videos the companies have uploaded to learn about working there, then create their own video profile and record their answers to a hiring company’s questions in less than 60 seconds.
“We’re focused on helping during a time of extraordinary need,” said Heroes Jobs CEO Cyriac Lefort. “The real heroes are the people working in stores right now, who are trying to keep up with unprecedented demand. Store managers are struggling to hire fast enough to meet people’s needs for food and household staples. At the same time, millions of Americans have been furloughed or laid off and are looking to be hired as quickly as possible. Donating the use of our app to connect these candidates with the companies that need them most is the least we can do to help in the battle against this horrendous virus. It makes the hiring process significantly more efficient and also makes it safer by eliminating the need for in-person interviews for initial assessments.”
Store managers are facing long lines of shoppers outside and the need to constantly restock shelves as quickly as possible right now. They have no extra time to focus on recruiting and need a tool that makes hiring easy and quick. With the Heroes Jobs app, hiring companies can quickly review 1-minute video profiles to assess applicants’ soft skills and personality, making recruiting up to five times faster than through posting on the Indeed job board. To speed the process even more at the busiest retail chains, Heroes Jobs is currently selecting candidates at individual stores’ request and sending them straight to the stores for hiring.
‘’I offered positions to six people within two weeks,” said James Holm, a manager at Vons. “It’s much easier than the system we typically use to filter out candidates. Overall, I had a great experience and was happy with the strong candidates that came through and the easy onboarding.”
“This app is extremely interactive and an innovative way to connect with employers,” said Loren Conny, who used Heroes Jobs to apply to Pizza Hut. “You create mini videos and send them to stores hiring around you. It’s super fast—I got hired in two days. I hope more employers use it.”
Prior to the coronavirus outbreak in the US, job applicants had already been using Heroes Jobs to apply for in-store positions with leading brands and retailers. American Eagle, Casper, Everlane, H&M and Jamba Juice are among the retailers that have used Heroes Jobs to fill in-store positions. The app enables candidates to connect with potential employers in a more personal and engaging way and it has proven particularly popular among younger, digitally native applicants who are avid users of video formats. Heroes Jobs reaches potential candidates through customized Instagram and Snapchat Stories, TikTok, partnerships with nano-influencers, local community outreach to organizations such as LGBTQ and youth centers, and referrals. Some 30% of Heroes Jobs users have invited their closest friends to download the app.
ABOUT HEROES JOBS
Heroes Jobs was founded by Cyriac Lefort, Adrien Dewulf and Tristan Petit, three friends who wanted to help their generation make the job application process more personal and engaging than the traditional method of submitting a generic resume and cover letter. The Heroes Jobs app enables applicants to express themselves and showcase what customers will see, their personality, instead of their resume-writing skills. The app easily integrates with retailers’ and brands’ existing infrastructure, allowing hiring managers to quickly assess applicants’ soft skills and demeanor via video profiles that candidates submit. The app eliminates the need for managers to screen hundreds of resumes that may not accurately reflect candidates’ customer service orientation and qualifications, saving companies time and recruiting costs.
