WESTON, Fla.–Ultimate Software, a leading global provider of human capital management (HCM) and employee experience solutions in the cloud, announced today that the Florida Panthers, a U.S. professional hockey team and a member club of the National Hockey League, has selected Ultimate’s UltiPro as its HCM solution. Ultimate Software will be the Official HR/Payroll Provider of the Florida Panthers and BB&T Center.

Sports teams are challenged with complex payrolls and seasonally fluctuating workforces that rapidly expand in size. Because of their scalability, organizations that manage sports teams must be able to advertise job openings, identify candidates, and facilitate employee productivity, all with great efficiency. The Florida Panthers organization recently engaged in an enterprise-wide modernization of all technology systems and selected Ultimate’s UltiPro in August 2019.

“Ultimate’s reputation within the pro-sports industry made our choice easy,” said John Spade, CIO at the Florida Panthers. “Many HCM vendors claim to have seamless integration between their solutions, but in truth are difficult to use. We are excited to take advantage of Ultimate’s consolidated solution that, for us, includes initially Ultimate’s recruiting and onboarding platforms.”

According to Spade, the Florida Panthers organization was also encouraged by Ultimate’s reputation for customer service. While the Florida Panthers is a well-known sports brand, the organization manages HR with a lean staff, and the leadership team is excited to have the support of Ultimate’s customer support team as the Florida Panthers upgrades its HCM infrastructure.

“Our HR team is looking forward to automating processes and reducing the potential for errors caused by manual processing of employee data,” said Spade. “We know UltiPro is a highly engaging product that is very easy to use for our employees. I am excited about improving our users’ experiences with our technology. We are also eager to deploy UltiPro’s mobile app and deliver a great employee experience.”

Ultimate and the Florida Panthers demonstrate similar values not only by prioritizing collaborative technology and a focus on people, but also through a shared desire to serve the community. The community service initiative, Panthers Pledge presented by Ultimate Software, will offer ongoing opportunities to make a difference in the areas of children’s health, education, and environmental-conservation initiatives.

“We are delighted to be working with a partner that mirrors our own philosophy toward philanthropy and possesses an equal interest in providing leadership on local issues,” said Spade. “We are excited about how our relationship with Ultimate creates a synergy for our organization and our community.”

“Sports teams have some of the most rigorous HR and payroll operations, and we are pleased to be able to help the Florida Panthers manage these challenges,” said Chris Phenicie, chief sales officer, mid-market and strategic, at Ultimate. “We are excited to see how the Panthers optimize its HCM practices, and we look forward to better serving the South Florida community together.”
