A significant gap has emerged between the speed at which organizations are adopting artificial intelligence and their ability to implement adequate security measures to guard against AI-related risk, according to new research highlighting critical vulnerabilities in enterprise AI deployment.

The AI Risk & Readiness in the Enterprise 2025 Report, based on a study of 230 security professionals conducted by AI risk management firm BigID, reveals that more than 90% of organizations surveyed lack full confidence in their ability to secure AI-driven data.

This security deficit could pose particular risks for human resources departments, where AI tools increasingly handle sensitive employee data and influence critical decisions around hiring and performance evaluation.

Widespread adoption, limited preparedness

A separate report from Cisco found that nearly two-thirds of companies have integrated AI into their operations, yet only 13% feel fully prepared to manage the associated security risks. This disparity underscores the urgent need for HR departments to collaborate closely with IT and security teams in developing comprehensive AI governance frameworks.
