UKG Launches Voice-Enabled AI and ‘Agentic Pay’ Tools to Support Frontline Workers

LOWELL, Mass. — HR and workforce management giant UKG unveiled a suite of new artificial intelligence features last month, aimed at simplifying administrative tasks for frontline employees, accelerating high-volume hiring, and curbing payroll errors.

The updates, announced as part of the company’s Quarterly Platform Innovation release, represent an effort to streamline operations for Chief Human Resources Officers (CHROs) managing deskless workforces, such as healthcare, retail, and manufacturing staff.

Voice-Powered Frontline Actions

Headlining the platform update is UKG Bryte Voice, which the company describes as the human capital management (HCM) industry’s first voice-enabled AI built for frontline employees. Integrated into the UKG Pro application, the tool allows workers to interact with the platform using natural language via Siri or Google Assistant.

At launch, Bryte Voice supports 12 hands-free actions, enabling employees—such as nurses, technicians, and retail associates—to manage their work routines without stepping away to navigate software menus. Workers can ask questions such as:

  • “What’s on my schedule for the rest of the week?”
  • “Is there anything wrong with my timecard?”
  • “Do I have enough vacation to take next week off?”
  • “I need to change my direct deposit.”

“When technology lives in the flow of a nurse’s shift, a store associate’s day, or a technician’s route—instead of pulling people away from those moments—it sends a clear message: their work matters more than the interface,” said Jason Averbook, veteran HCM analyst and co-founder of advisory firm Now to Next.

High-Volume Recruiting and ‘Agentic Pay’

Beyond voice capabilities, UKG introduced AI-assisted recruiting tools designed to handle bulk hiring, which is common in high-turnover frontline sectors or during new location launches. The features include automated job recommendations for candidates, AI-generated profile summaries, and a “Bulk Apply” tool that allows HR teams to process up to 100 applicants simultaneously.

To address payroll accuracy, UKG also rolled out Agentic Pay. The tool leverages agentic AI to allow payroll administrators to investigate pay activity and review historical data using natural language queries.

By analyzing pay data before final processing, the feature aims to catch discrepancies early. Citing internal 2026 research, UKG noted that payroll errors caused by manual processes, fragmented systems, and inaccurate data can cost organizations up to 4% of their annual revenue.

“Frontline work is where strategy becomes execution, and where decisions around people, compliance, service, and trust happen in real time,” said Suresh Vittal, Chief Product Officer at UKG. “CHROs need AI that does more than inform. They need AI that uses context to orchestrate action.”

The new capabilities are powered by the UKG Workforce Operating Platform and are now available within the company’s enterprise product suite.
