NEW YORK — BoomerangHR has closed a $12.7 million seed round to expand its AI-powered offboarding and corporate alumni platform, targeting a talent market where trusted candidate signals are becoming increasingly scarce.
The round was led by Kalos Ventures and Album Ventures, with participation from Monta Vista Capital, Capital Eleven, and Strada Education Foundation.
The funding lands at a critical inflection point for talent acquisition teams. With Gartner projecting that one in four candidate profiles will be fake by 2028 due to generative AI, verifying quality has turned into an expensive operational bottleneck. Meanwhile, data from ADP indicates returning “boomerang” workers already account for roughly one-third of all new hires, offering teams proven cultural fit, faster onboarding, and lower acquisition costs.
Founded by CEO Jeff Wald, BoomerangHR is designed to democratize the structured alumni networks historically reserved for elite consulting firms and investment banks.
“A company’s relationship with great talent shouldn’t end when they leave,” said Wald. “We built BoomerangHR to automate offboarding and transform former team members into an active growth network. Through Boomerang, companies can easily access warm rehires, referrals, and sales leads—because your best next hire is someone who already knows your culture, your customers, and your mission.”
The platform plugs into existing HRIS and ATS stacks in under an hour, focusing on three core operational pillars:
- Automated Offboarding: Streamlines compliance, COBRA notifications, 401(k) rollovers, equipment retrieval logistics, and structured exit interviews.
- Alumni Network Management: Centralizes verified profiles, auto-matches former staff to open roles, and delivers targeted re-engagement campaigns.
- Talent Migration & Reporting: Monitors alumni career moves, flags rehire or business development signals, and automates non-compete tracking.
Industry leaders cite the dual benefit of risk mitigation and long-term brand equity. Former Chipotle CHRO Marissa Andrada noted that offboarding with care creates lasting ambassadors, while Jose Tomas, former CHRO of General Motors and Burger King, emphasized that the tool handles compliance without burdening already stretched HR departments.
Current enterprise adopters, including Warby Parker, are already using the infrastructure to manage talent fluidity across distributed retail, customer care, and corporate teams.
“BoomerangHR has all the components for category success,” said Ashley Bittner, Managing Partner at Kalos Ventures. “A multi-time venture-backed founding team, a cutting-edge yet responsible AI-native solution, proven deployment across hundreds of companies representing millions of alumni, and HR advisors who have run people organizations at scale.” To learn more visit www.boomerangHR.com.
