SAP to Acquire AI Work Intelligence Startup TechWolf to Power Skills-Based Workforce Planning

WALLDORF, Germany & GHENT, Belgium — Enterprise software giant SAP SE announced an agreement to acquire TechWolf, a Belgium-based artificial intelligence startup specializing in workforce intelligence and skills mapping.

The deal, expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026 subject to regulatory approvals, will fold TechWolf’s AI research team, models, and proprietary “context graph for work” directly into SAP’s human resources and workforce ecosystem. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Bringing Evidence-Based Intelligence to HR

Founded in 2018, Ghent-based TechWolf connects to existing enterprise business and HR platforms to build dynamic, data-driven workforce models. The system evaluates organizations on three tiers: the discrete tasks that make up job roles, the concrete skills employees possess and apply, and broader real-time labor market trends.

By mapping internal capabilities against corporate strategy, the technology helps enterprise leaders replace guesswork with evidence when hiring, reskilling, or redeploying talent.

Once the acquisition closes, SAP plans to integrate TechWolf into the core of its SAP SuccessFactors suite. TechWolf’s context graph is set to become a foundational layer for SAP’s AI assistant, Joule, improving reasoning for complex HR tasks such as role redesign, internal mobility, and skills-based hiring.

“TechWolf’s proprietary context graph for skills and work provides an excellent grounding layer for agent queries regarding work and skills planning and talent management,” said Manoj Swaminathan, president and chief product officer for SAP Autonomous Suite. “It makes token usage more efficient, lowers the cost of deploying workforce agents, and will make Joule more intelligent in AI-driven HR scenarios.”

Independence and Multi-Platform Availability

As organizations navigate widespread workforce shifts driven by artificial intelligence, demand for empirical skills mapping has accelerated. TechWolf has established a customer footprint across major global corporations, counting HSBC, GSK, Ericsson, AMD, PayPal, and Booking.com among its clients.

TechWolf is slated to operate as an independent entity led by co-founder and CEO Andreas De Neve. Headquartered in Ghent with offices in London, New York, and San Francisco, TechWolf will keep its work intelligence platform open to non-SAP systems as well as native SAP clients.

“Organizations everywhere are trying to figure out how AI is reshaping work, and what their workforce needs to look like because of it,” said De Neve. “Joining SAP will allow us to extend that mission across a broader set of business context and larger scale.”

J.P. Morgan acted as the exclusive financial advisor to TechWolf for the transaction.
