Aspen Tech Labs Q1 2025 U.S. Jobs Report is here, offering a fresh snapshot of hiring trends across the country.

This quarter saw a strong rebound in job vacancies—up 7.7% since January—marking a notable turnaround following the late-2024 slowdown. With 14.4 million unique active job listings listed during the first quarter of 2025 and growing demand across sectors like healthcare, retail, and IT, it’s clear that employers are still hiring. From rising salary transparency to the continued expansion of remote work, our data offers valuable insights for anyone navigating the evolving labor market.

Looking ahead, ongoing economic uncertainty—driven partly by shifting tariff policies—may influence employer hiring behavior in the coming months. Aspen Tech Labs will continue monitoring job posting activity and labor market signals to help you stay ahead.

Let’s take a look at some key takeaways from the Q1 2025 U.S. Jobs Report:
Total U.S. Job Vacancies
This quarter, job vacancies rose by a sharp 7.7%, approximately 459,000 additional listings between January 6 and March 3. This growth marks a renewed expansion in the labor market following a contraction towards the end of 2024, which itself came after a year of little change. Compared to one year prior, vacancies have declined 0.7%.
