San Francisco-based startup Weekday has secured $2.2 million in funding in a recent investment round, with Venture Highway as the main contributor along with angel investors. Founded in 2021 by Amit Singh, Anubav Malik, and Chetan Dalal, and backed by Y Combinator, Weekday focuses on streamlining engineer recruitment.

It employs a crowdsourced reference network where software engineers vouch for peers, integrating social connections from platforms like LinkedIn. The platform offers a gamified approach, engaging engineers to refer potential candidates to companies, with recruiters accessing the collected reference data.

A standout feature is “Backchannel,” allowing companies to gather background references on candidates. Having partnered with over 100 startups, Weekday has aided in recruiting technical positions for notable companies including Coinbase, Clipboard Health, and Round Finance.
