Fiverr: Our Freelancers Have Earned Over 2 Billion Dollars

Read Time2 Minute, 2 Second

Fiverr, the freelance marketplace, says that freelancers selling digital services through its platform have collectively earned over two billion dollars in its history. Notably, half of that two billion was earned in just over the past year, as in February 2020 it announced that Fiverr freelancers had earned over one billion dollars since the company’s launch a decade prior.

“This impressive milestone symbolizes the increase in trust business owners have had working with freelancers over the past year,” said Fiverr Founder & CEO Micha Kaufman. “Fiverr is growing fast, underscoring that businesses see the benefit of integrating freelancers into their organizations, as their agility and skills offer flexible, quick, and cost-effective solutions. Remote work has been the mode of work during the pandemic and because of its success, it is here to stay.”

While the entire Fiverr platform grew immensely over the past year, key categories that saw massive amounts of growth and categories where freelancers are earning the most money include:

  • E-Commerce Development
  • Illustration
  • Architecture & Interior Design
  • Voice Over
  • Graphics for Streamers

There is a high earning potential among these categories, with sellers charging thousands of dollars for many of their services. Pro Illustration sellers are charging over $6,000 for some services, and in Pro E-Commerce Development sellers are offering services well over $3,000. Similarly, in Architecture & Interior Design, sellers’ prices can range from hundreds to over $2,500 depending on the service, and Voice Over sellers charge well into the thousands for audiobooks. With increasing demand for skilled freelancers in Character Modeling and Short Video Ads, the prices are rising here too. This is likely due, in part, to the shutdown of real world video and campaign shoots, as well as the immense rise in popularity of short video clips on TikTok and Reels.

Over the course of the past year, Fiverr saw freelancers joining its platform in record numbers, whether it was to find a new source of income or to simply monetize their skills while spending more time at home. Entrepreneurs continued to tap into freelance talent for help building new companies and small business owners turned to them to digitally transform and adapt to changing customer needs. Working with freelancers has proven to be an invaluable resource for businesses around the world, and the subsequent earnings clearly demonstrate this. In just over one year Fiverr freelancers matched the amount of earnings from the past decade.
