The latest Job Board Doctor Survey (2025) offers a fascinating snapshot of an industry that’s both seasoned and evolving. While the foundations of job boards remain steady, the data shows a sector leaning harder into niche targeting, AI-driven tools, and smarter traffic strategies to stay competitive in a crowded market.
A Mature Market with Small but Mighty Teams
Most respondents (81%) identify as traditional job boards, a clear signal that the classic model still dominates. However, other formats are gaining traction, including classifieds (36%), aggregators (12%), and marketplaces (11%).
It’s also an industry built on experience: 69% of boards have been operating for 7+ years, yet most teams remain lean – 62% run their platforms with 20 or fewer employees. Geographically, the core activity remains concentrated in North America (52%), Western Europe (39%), and the UK (39%), though nearly a quarter now describe themselves as global.
