In its Spring 2026 update, Upwork has introduced a suite of AI-driven innovations centered around its proprietary AI work agent, Uma, to streamline the hiring and project management process for small and medium-sized businesses. Key features include the launch of an Upwork app within ChatGPT that allows clients to discover talent and draft job posts during conversations, as well as AI-powered “Uma Recruiter” shortlisting to automatically surface top candidates.
The platform has also been redesigned with an AI-native homepage to highlight in-demand skills and now offers automated video meeting recaps, instant contract generation, and daily project summaries to help businesses move from idea to execution with greater speed and confidence.
