As part of our ongoing efforts to ensure data consistency and data quality we have added validation to avoid concurrent employment and global assignment conflicts.

As of 2H 2025 when adding a global assignment to an employee with a concurrent employment the system will show a validation warning about the two conflicting employments:

The same will apply if you add a concurrent employment to an employee on a global assignment:

Why are we doing this?

As per our implementation guide, a global assignment and a concurrent employment cannot be applied to the same employee at the same time (Types of Employment | SAP Help Portal) .  We are introducing this change to ensure the system and documentation are aligned and to reduce the possibility of data inconsistencies.

What do you need to know?

The validation will come into effect in 2H 2025 if you try to add an active concurrent employment and global assignment at the same time.

This change will not impact employees who already have active concurrent employments and global assignments which exist at the same time.

This change does not impact on future dated records, for example, an employee has a concurrent employment which ends on 31st December and they go on a global assignment
